Rei Kawakubo created Comme des Garçons in Tokyo in 1969 and soon after it became hugely successful throughout Japan. Comme des Garçons' dismantled approach to fashion has aided in earning its worldwide popularity. Using techniques of monochromatic colors, surreal silhouettes and unconventional pattern making have lead to Comme des Garçons to remain an inspiration to the fashion community.
